PoleCats & Polar Bears talk.
Monday, October 17th, 2005Find out what it was really like to compete in one of the hardest endurance events on the planet, The Scott Dunn polar challenge, when local girl (and Pembs. DOE staffer!) Tori James gives a mulitmedia talk about her experience of successfully completing the event in May 2005.
The talk will take place at 7.30pm on Friday 4th November at Wolfscastle Country Hotel, Pembs. Tickets are £5 for adults but FREE for students/children.
“The talk is suitable for all ages and will include video clips and stunning photography from the race. It will reveal how the Pink Lady PoleCats Team successfully became the first ever all-female team to complete a 360-mile race to the Magnetic North Pole. Beginning with the challenge of raising £40,000 just to enter the race, then the 9 months of training to drag sledges weighing 60kg across frozen sea ice whilst overcoming sub zero temperatures to survive in an environment where polar bears are a constant threat to safety.”
